It's hard to explain the general strategy of what leaves to gather from, but there are videos on youtube of people completing 3.1 and 3.2 on insane.“Since releasing our first demo we have received mountains of feedback from the community, which has been constantly shaping the game’s core mechanics and features. The idea is gather resources farther out (to prevent the enemy from getting them), and having the resources close to you for the end to push yourself over the win condition). So usually I end with about 19 or 20 majors, since you need to build them to fight the enemy waves. By this point, you should have a massive army anyways, with around 40 minors, 65-80 medias, and 12 majors. By the end of the level, when the enemy begins sending waves, certainly begin producing more majors than media. The reason you are building medias and majors adjacent to the leaf stores is because these media and major tiles hold the most fungus, and by placing them right next to the leaf stores, you won't have a build up of leaves, allowing you to outproduce the enemy in numbers of media. I usually build majors in the area above my leaf stores (above the nest entrance). Never upgrade, it's a waste and you will lose. 7 medias for 1 major, but if you're playing on insane, in order to keep up with the enemy, it's more like 10 medias for 1 major to maximize harvesting.

From now on, get as many medias as possible, and carve out a massive chamber in between your leaf stores and your queen.

Start gathering from places near the enemy nest first, like the area directly in front of the enemy nest (or in the middle of the map). By the first night, this area of plants should be harvested and you should have your new 30 workers. Start off by spamming 30 minor workers around or below and queen and harvesting from the plants to the left of the nest. Build a leaf storage at the nest entrance, make sure you don't cap on leaves by upgrading those tiles. Dig out the nest a ton, focusing on neat chambers will make you lose the level (and you shouldn't upgrade anything anyways in these levels, it's a complete waste of resources to do so). The number one thing is to have an efficient nest.

Also, I tend to prefer taunt majors for 3.1, but stuns work.īeating 3.1 on hard or insane is simply a test of a good understanding of leaf cutter mechanics and nest design imo. Also, it's completely different with the challenge modes, which I haven't played, but I'm talking about 3.1 without challenge mode. To beat 3.1 and 3.2 on hard or insane, I'd say the number one thing is nest design.
